EU Directive 2016/2102, known as the Web Accessibility Directive, establishes an obligation for member countries to ensure that digital sites and applications of public (and to some extent private) entities meet certain accessibility standards. Law 4/2004 (Stanca Law)

In Italy, digital accessibility is regulated by Law 4/2004, known as the Stanca Law. Coordination and implementation are entrusted to AGID (Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale), which defines the technical requirements and methods for making websites and IT services accessible to people with disabilities.
